Welcome to our “love letter” to Samantha Sayers; our daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, aunt and friend. You may "know" her as a missing hiker, but she is so much more than that and she is desperately missed by those who love her. As her mother, she is also part of me. So I’m no longer whole because part of me has been missing since August 1, 2018. Our family has not and never will be the same. That day forever changed us. And we have not and never will stop our search for the truth.

 

We have had to learn to “live” through the constant pain. It isn’t easy. Every day is a challenge. We have all had to find a way to cope so we can get up each day and move through it. What keeps us going is our LOVE for Sam and each other. 

 

A day does not go by that we don’t think or talk about Samantha. During this time of not knowing, we want to honor our daughter/sister. We want her to know how loved she is and always has been. How much joy she has brought to our family and all those she has touched. Even during this time of unknowing, she is touching lives of those who have never met her. 

 

We want her to know we will never stop searching for the truth and that even though she isn’t physically here, she is and always will be with us. A light like hers can’t be snuffed out so easily. She shines on through our memories, our stories, our photos and our immense love and NOBODY can ever take that away. 

 

Shine on baby girl. Your light is a beacon in this dark world and we are so grateful that you are a part of us. We love you.
